Keurig B50 Gourmet Single Cup Brewer
Coffee Pod Machine
The Keurig B50 Gourmet Single Cup Brewer is a coffee pod machine that can be programmed to start when you wake up in the morning and it takes under 60-seconds to brew. Its LCD message center tells you at what stage your coffee is brewing and has a 24-hour digital clock. This coffee pod machine looks high tech and has a removable drip tray.
It hosts a removable 48-ounce water reservoir, which is one of the largest in the coffee pod market. The Keurig has a 1500-watt power source; most coffee pod machines have a 1450-watt power source. It heats 185 degrees F. Dimensions: 13"H 10"W 13.25"D. It can make coffee in two sizes 7.5 ounce or 5.25 ounce. The coffee pod machine can handle most travel mugs.
The Keurig Gourmet Single Cup Brewer uses its own patented coffee pods called K-Pods. The K-pods have an airtight, cone shaped filter and there are over 70 types of coffees to choose from. The K-Pods look similar to coffee creamers in design. Some are from well-known coffee brands like, Timothy's World Coffee, Van Houtte Cafe, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Diedrich Coffee, Gloria Jean's Coffee, Celestial Seasonings and Bigelow Teas and include Fair Trade Coffee and Organic Coffee. Coffee strengths include: Dark, Medium and Light Roast. All coffees and teas are Kosher certified. Ideally, order the variety pack of K-Pods first because Keurig has a no return policy on its food products and you want to be able to find the right coffee strength or flavor before investing in their coffee club. Currently, there aren't hot chocolate pods for use in the machine, however, the manufacturer is looking at ways to make an optimal cup.
Keurig's K-Pods are currently non-recyclable.
Accessories include racks to hold the pods individually or in their boxes and there are industrial versions of the Keurig Gourmet Single Cup Brewer for office use.
Keurig is derived from the Dutch word for excellence, the “excellent” coffee pod machines cost about $170, and the limited warranty lasts one year from date of purchase.
